I hope everyone is having a Happy 4th of July!
I'm not...but I won't get into that :(
(let's just say I missed out on A LOT of B.B.Q....GRRRRRR)
Today I have swatches and a review of all the Essence gel liners for you guys! I'm going to be honest, and say I was highly disappointed with two of the three liners...details will be given a little later in this post. I purchased all the Essence liners at Ulta.
You can see the complete haul that featured these liners HERE.
There are three gel liners total in the Essence line. There's London Baby, which is a brown liner with golden shimmer. Then there's Berlin Rocks, and that's a purple liner with a bit of iridescent shimmer. Finally, there's Midnight In Paris, which is a regular black liner. I was surprised by Midnight In Paris, because with a name like that you expect more shimmer! But no....no shimmer in that one. No biggie though.
The "biggie" with these liners, to me, is that the couple of liners that appeared to have shimmer in the pot, don't actually have shimmer in the swatch!!!
WHAT THE HECK?!
I mean, there's a very very verrry slight shimmer, but it's hardly noticeable.
The two I was most excited about....aren't exciting at all :(
Total let down for me.
On a positive note, all three liners have EXCELLENT staying power!
After wiping my wrist multiple times with a makeup remover wipe where I swatched the liners, you could still see remnants of the swatches.
So...yay for that :D
I'm still mad about the lack of shimmer though...maybe the more the product is layered, the more shimmer you'll see?
I'm not sure. I saw hardly any shimmer after swatching, but there wasn't that much sun when I swatched them. Maybe that has something to do with it...or maybe I'm trying to come up with excuses for Essence >:(
ALSO....another slight downfall for me is how creamy the product is. If you look at the picture above, I put quite a dent in these liners. The problem with that is I ONLY SWATCHED THESE LINERS ONCE....
In my opinion, by the pictures, it looks like I've used those liners at least 3 times each.
But, again, maybe that's just me :P
I just hope that the creaminess doesn't give me less product to work with overtime....
My final thoughts.
These liners are $3.49 each, so I do believe that the price is amazing. Love that about them.
The pigmentation is awesome, unless you're expecting shimmer...*tear*
The staying power of these liners is GREAT.
They are very VERY creamy liners. This is both good and bad. Makes them easier to use, yet gives me less product..in my opinion.
I hope this review and these swatches are useful to you, even though the lighting isn't the best...
Most product reviews & swatches coming soon ^_^
